Went to see this film last night at the civilized
Arclight Cinema in Hollywood.Being a native of California, and located in San Francisco at the time frame witnessed in this film,it was pretty much a pleasure to sit through.
Mr. Penn did not so much as channel a spirit, but
gave a man with the courage to stand up to the system,a breath of life.I thank him for that, and his compassionate study of character.
The artistic medium displayed here, is wonderful, the characters and atmosphere, reflected the scene in a manner that was easier to watch than I had expected.Any man or woman there, at that moment, knows it was filled with magic on the streets, and heartbreak was quite often just a conversation away.
I found it interesting after the close of the film
to hear someone ask another if Anita Bryant was still alive,I thought to my self, how easily it is to integrate history and forget the struggle of mankind's ever constant struggle for freedom and respect, no matter what the cause.
The hater's, and opportunists will always be there, but to realize that they can inspire such men, to rally us. should never be forgotten. |
