Once again, Clint Eastwood proves why he is one of America's great filmmakers. Not only does he do an amazing job directing the story & actors in the movie, he shows us why he is still a force to be reckoned with in the acting arena.
The way Clint's character, Walt, interacts with his Asian neighbors and the bond he forms with the family next door, is exactly what is missing in this country. We are too absorbed in our own lives to befriend people we do not know or cultures we are not familiar with. Walt's heart slowly softens for Thao & Sue and he becomes a surrogate father for them, something he was never able to do with his own children.
This could easily be Clint's swansong for the movie business. If he were to walk away from Hollywood today, this would be the ending to a great success story in film. I highly recommend this movie to anyone. |
