17 Again Keeps the Humor

17 Again--should you leave it alone or take a chance and watch it?
To put it simply, 17 Again doesn't have much of a creative plot, as many Hollywood movies, but overall it's pretty funny.
17 Again is the story of Mike Gold (Matthew Perry), a father who is on the verge of divorce with his wife and at ends with his two teenagers. Unhappy with his current life, Mike searches in his past to the glory days when he was the popular boy on his basketball team. He yearns for the days before his girlfriend and future wife was pregnant with their daughter. Soon, Mike finds an unlikely ally in his quest for youth in a janitor and is sent back to his life as a teenager. He returns to high school and attempts to reconnect with his children while struggling with the love he still has for his wife as she attempts to date other men.
Overall 17 Again was a decent movie. The plot is not difficult to follow so you don't have to worry about looking for meticulous clues. Zac Efron fans will love the sight of their favorite celebrity being funny and still keeping his trademark smile. This movie relies on teen stereotypes and adds your run-of-the-mill characters to the mix.
The only real problem with this movie is that it seems as if has been used so many times. Of course, the entertainment industry has a tendency to repeat itself whether it's movie or television, but there's nothing really memorable about it. It's a movie you can watch with your friends for a fun Friday night, but that's it.
The final verdict: If you're looking for a fun movie with nothing too complicated, than 17 Again is the movie for you. |
