Space and dwarves no longer needed for fantasy

The disturbing trend of effeminate Hollywood writers projecting their feminine fantasies about how men behave has made the leap, once and for all, from television (i.e., Desperate Housewives, Sex and the City, etc.) to the big screen with the absurdist fantasy "I Love You, Man."
This is a film for, mainly, women, to ponder a world where men act and think like women. While the matriarchy in the United States has convinced a lot of middle and upper class males to behave in exactly this manner, from the working class point of view (also known as the majority,) the characterizations of males in this movie can only be described as fantasy. No longer does Hollywood need to go to a galaxy far, far away to create a world that has no relation to the world most of us actually live in, now they simply put forth the outrageous notion that men make "man dates" and express their feelings and secrets with each the other the EXACT same way that women do. If this were truly the case, the species wouldn't survive. Women are attracted to men who act like men, and the "men" in this movie do anything but. The point is driven home at the end of the film when the two males, standing at the altar, can't stop professing their love for each other.
I understand that Hollywood is a leftish machine designed to counteract the conservative character of the country at large, but this kind of crap simply takes things too far.
For a much, much better, much more realistic look at the nature of friendhsip, ALL friendhsips, I suggest "Adventureland," which is a more traditional chick-flick disguised as a stoner comedy. |
