Public Enemies had such promise and it was a movie I look forward to seeing for months but I was very disappointed with the film.
To start off with much of the film was actually digitally recorded on HD video and I thought it was done very poorly. Some of the film was, as I understand it actually shot on film and you'll be able to tell the difference. Michael Mann made a poor decision and when the cinematography detracts from your film it's not a good beginning. Some of it is so poorly done it looks like it could have been shot with an HD Handy Cam rather than an Sony F23.
The story is old but still was interesting. The acting was superb and Johnny Depp's legend continues to grow. Would I recommend this film (video)? I think I would wait for BluRay, DVD or HBO the cinematography really is disturbing. |
