Public Enemies is a solid time piece wrapped in excitement and visually introduces us to thegangsters in 1930's during the depression.

John Dillinger is their modern day Robin Hood disgused in intrigue and suspense by another unique performance by Johnny Depp.

As a viewer it was interesting to see some correlation to how the banks failed during that time and today's chaotic mergers and bankruptcies but people looked to Dillinger as a hero with his charm and ability to escape the Bureau of Invesitgation intertwined with an assertive bureaucrat named J.E. Hoover.
His girlfriend Billie Frechette like many relationships seemed awkward at first but their differences causes one to see a unique love story with the backdrop of Chicago and the struggle to make ends meet to a public without sympathy for the banks plunging the country into the Depression.

Dillengers gang is colorful with Baby Face Nelson, Pretty Boy Floyd and Alvin Karpis. The action of these gangsters and bank robbers put into motion Melvin Purvis played by Christian Bale (this guy is always good it seems) is compelling and not always over shadowed by Depps unique potrayal of Public Enemy #1.

The methods used by the lawmen crossed a thin line and at times the good guys seemed to be motivated by fame and career advancment.

This is a movie to see from start to finish and the movie makers and director Michael Mann spare no expense to bring you back in detail to another time.

Good movie, solid acting and remember you can't outrun the long arm of the law.
