I loved this movie. While it was not as exciting as say Batman or any other summer blockbuster meant to keep you on the edge of your seat, this movie was true to the facts. John Dillinger wasn't a song and dance man - he was a murderer and thief. This story stays true to the fact that the guy didn't really have much of a personality, and was a greedy sociopath.
My only problem with the movie was the high definition close ups of everyone. I could have used a lot less of a dermatology lesson. Plus Dillinger was only 31 when he died, Johnny Depp is in his 40's and has the skin of a man in his 40's. I know that sounds picky, but it just made me a bit queasy.
Overall, this is a great movie, but don't expect things to blow up every two minutes. The shootouts are spectacular and very realistic. The love scene (yay, only 1!) doesn't linger and doesn't feel as if it's an afterthought for the sake of teenagers.
This is a very real movie. |
