What I loved about Emma, My Story is the advice she gives at the end of her life to the surviving twin Julia Murdock, whom she raised as her own daughter. I love the way the movie teaches how she obtained this wisdom through her experiences. Knowing the background of these two women and the fact that their departure from this life soon follows, makes the setting and movie even more meaningful. If you have read Gracia Jones book on Emma and Joseph, you will find the movie even more enjoyable because you will find yourself filling in events that there was not time to show (which were some of my my most admirable stories about Emma). These missing scenes formed in my mind increased the emotional impact and brought the movie to life. Those who have not read the book thought the movie was a little slow and a repeat of history they had already seen before in other movies. When you add the emotions of Emma life history to the traumatic life of Joseph, you have the best production I have seen about Joseph and Emma Smith. Everyone should see this movie to learn about finding strength in the midst of your trials. |
