This was an entertaining movie. I thought the story was very clever and made up for some mediocre jokes. I didn't think this was an entirely conservative film (unless you would think that only conservatives love America). I appreciated a few moments of the film that were very profound and unexpected.
There were some funny scenes. Many times the entire theater broke out in laughter at some pretty silly stuff. I think it was more situational comedy and a parody of how Americans view the far left liberals in this country.
A scene with John Voight as George Washington was one of the most powerful scenes I've seen in any movie. As I was driving home from the theater, it still had an impact on me. Not many films do that. Without giving anything away, it was the subltely of the situation that caught me off guard. It made me think that this direction might have been right for the entire film instead of stapstick comedy.
To be completely honest, there were some cheesy jokes and scenes I could do without (little kids swearing, and couple of butt jokes) that went over well with only a few audience members.
I'd reccomend this movie to anyone that is tired of watching Hollywood and members of the press beat up on America or anyone that thinks Michael Moore and/or Rosie O'Donnel should shut up. |
