This movie depicting BIG's life was OK being that it went into depth about his growing up and trying to make it. I think when it got to the part where he made it to fame, there was alot of things skipped over. Lil Kim had way more influence on his career than was showed in the movie. Not to mention, the actress that played Kim's character did a very poor job. I think the whole Pac incident was glorified, and skewed towards Biggie fans and left a wide open space for a rendition of 2Pac's life story to be brought to film, and have an even more skewed version of the incident, only in the opposite direction.
I'm a huge fan of BIG's music, so as a side bar, I have to say that reading over some of the poor reviews and having everyone saying that BIG is a glorified thug, gangmember, not to be anyone's role model, and oh he was just another rapper that made it then died...People, we're talking about a human being here. This is this man's experience he had out of life and who is anyone to judge that. Some people just know what they know, simple as that. If he knew the streets and didn't see any other way to make things happen for him, you can't put him down for it. I'm not saying that everything he did was good, or right but that doesn't place any less value on his life. In terms of him being glorified because he was a rapper...my thoughts on that are you have to look at NY, espcially parts like Brooklyn, and Bedstuy as a totally different culture. Thats just a way of life for them.. |
