I am a hardcore gamer and once I seen the trailer for the movie I was pretty excited, until I seen the Valkerie demons and didnt know what they had to do with the story.
Anyway where to begin on the flaws of this movie, first off the storyline. Why cant hollywood just stick with the story that was already written for the game? I was kinda angry there was no Alfred Wooden in the movie b/c he plays a major part in the game and its sequal. Also why do they have a Puerto Rican playing Jack Lupino? In the game Lupino is an italian mob boss who loses his mind due to the Valkerie drug, not some cracked out druggie ex soldier! The game starts out with Max Payne going undercover to take down the Lupino crime family and is later accused of murdering his partner, and then he goes on a 600 man murdering spree. In the movies he barely kills 20 ppl. The only thing that the movie and game storylines have in common are that Mona Sax is a badass chic who is looking for her sisters murderer, B.B is Max's friend who later betrays him in the end, and the Payne family get slaughtered. They left out that the main bad guy is actually the president of the Aiser Corp, the boss lady who arranges for max's family to be killed, and she was hardly in the movie, let alone a neutral character. B.B doesnt kill Max's family in the game, plus how could 50 yr old fat ass Bridges jump through a window like he's Peter F'n Pan!!!
The acting was sub-par. I think Wahlberg did an okay job, Kunis was hardley in it for 20 mins of the whole film and then they dont even show what happens to her. Luda did ok for playing Bravura, who in the game is a fat Italian cop.
The visuals were great. I could see what the director was going for with the demons, showing the viewer the druggies POV. Great cinematograpy also.
Im pretty much just pissed on how they took a great game with a great story and made it into a ok movie with a *****ty script. My 10 month old boxer could've wrote a better screenplay. Writer's strike my ass. Wait for it to come out on DVD!! |
