Great Imagination! What else could you ask for?

I go to see movies like Ice Age, Up, Wall-E, etc. for the same reason I go to see Star treck, Transformers, Rambo, Punisher etc and that is to be entertained by someones imagination outside the ordinary. And I know what to expect when I go see a movie like Ice Age, and that is different to what I expect when I go see a movie like Iron Man.
One critic lamented that dinosaurs and mammoths didn't really co-exsist (no kidding) then complained that one of the characters yelled out " Yabba-dabba-doo" while sliding down a dinosaur. I feel sorry for her. She has lost her sence of simple tongue-in-cheek humor. She must have hated Shrek.
I listened to a child in the audience get so involved in the story, he or she was helping to call out for Sid, who had gotten lost in the movie. We heard this child throughout the movie, not being rude or obnoxious, but actually adding to the entertainment by getting ingrossed in the movie. There's your critic.
Roger Ebert got it right when he said the premise of putting them in a whole different world opened all kinds of new possibillities. It's called imagination!
I'm a 50 year old male who went with my 44 year old girlfriend and her two daughters to the 3D showing. We, along with all the other people (adults and kids alike)laughed and groand outloud throughout the entire movie. The action scenes (everything from a wild ride in the snow to a wild flight on the back of a pterodactyl) are great as well as using visuals to pull some surprises. The characters were all what I expected. In fact, I noticed that I liked the possums' characters in this movie better, probably because there seemed to be a bigger part for them. There are some things for a young child (like a quick reference to "comming out" and It's not a son..."That's her tail") that you might have to sidestep for later, but most humor, in my opinion, is just what you should expect for a family movie.
In my opinion, this is a VERY entertaining movie to wich you wont be embarrassed to take anyone. I enjoyed it very much.
