Yes, films are meant to entertain people and that's what the critics are judging on. I feel Seven Pounds isn't there to be entertaining people but to tell a story and remind people of the struggles that society deals with today. The story is absolutely touching. I have to admit it's a bit slow in the beginning because it takes awhile to figure out the story but it's worth it. Thing is, when you finally reach the end, you realize the slowness was to get the audience to think and get caught up in loving the characters of the movie. Once you reach the end, you just become more sympathetic and touched by everything the characters have done. Especially if you have experienced anything the characters have gone through, this movie would definitely touch your heart.
This movie isn't made to entertain. It's here to remind us the emotional journey of a tragedy and the happiness that still can come from it. |
