I'll start by saying that I've read the book. The book was excellent which is why myself and the fam decided to go see this movie, all of which except my father have read the book. With that in mind, here is my review:
I thought this movie was an excellent 'adaption' of a truely great book. The movie took more of a dive into the relationship aspect between husband and wife and starting a family, a family which includes the 'worst dog in the world.' I think that the problems addressed in this movie are what's going to make this movie very relatable for a lot of audiences which obviously will generate higher revenue. I assume you all understand that this is why the studio made this movie.
Marley is definately a scene stealer. The relationship between Owens and Aniston is quite believable. I wouldn't worry too much about what the critics write. Movies are not made for critics. As I'm sure you've read, the ending is tough to watch but very well done. As the owner of a chocolate lab, the first thing I did was give her a hug when I got home. She responded by jumping all over me, not all that different from Marley. |
