I took my son to see this film on Christmas day; going to a movie Christmas afternoon has become something of a family custom. If the on-line promotional blurb had said the film would deal with sexual themes, death, loss, marital strife, and adult language, I probably wouldn't have taken my nine-year old son to see it. But the promotions gave no warning of those things. Having watched the cute scenes of the dog running down the beach and across the baseball field, my son was ready for a comedy. So was I. Instead, he was crying by the end of the movie. It was a good movie for what it was, and would be a great date flick, but the advertisements and promotions were totally deceptive and it was inappropriate for my nine-year old son. What a great way to spend Christmas day. Thanks a lot. |
