I remember watching Year of the Dragon with my brother over and over again. While others were big fans of other male actors, Mick was the man for my brother and I. When I bring his name up, most people bring up 9 and 1/2 weeks. Even though his is ok in this movie there were some more mind blowing performances out there. Great moments is such films as Diner, Rumble Fish, The Pope of Greenwich Village, Angel Heart, A Prayer for the Dying, and Barfly go the way-side. I drove 52 miles to see this movie and it was worth every mile.
Mick pins you to the mat and never lets you go. Mick leaves the door open into the world of the Ram. Not only does he let you peek in but he lets you become a part of him. Many questions about life and how this world ticks will pop up in your mind while watching this film.
There is one hard match to watch. I like how it is shown in a backwards fashion. Showing what happened at the end first and than showing the match from start to finish. There also some interesting adult seens (I know that my mom will never watch this film and that is a shame).
Many times when the crowd is yelling Ram, Ram, Ram.....I was yelling Mick, Mick, Mick. Welcome back Mick and I hope it is for good. |
