If your choice of vampire movies is not being dictated by a tweenage girl, then "Let The Right One In" is the one to see right now.
It's a much more realistic look at the awkwardness and difficult time that is adolescence, not a romantic fantasy. And the gloomy Scandanavian winter setting sets the perfect mood for this mismatched--well, it's not really a love story.
The acting is good, the plot is clever, the special effects are straightforward but used very effectively and the dialog is brilliant. This is up there as one of the truly great horror films of all time, one that crawls and slithers in the back of your brain long after you've seen it and the worst monsters may not be the vampires, but the humans--just like in the real world. |
