I am a musician; a composer. I almost worship Ludwig van Beethoven. Perhaps my opinion may be considered biased--fair enough. The music, well, it's Beethoven--need I say more? Absolute genius. The acting--also absolute genius. Not genius in an intellectual way, but genius in how Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr both get into their characters to such a degree that it's no longer acting. So, it is a touching story. A story unlike any other I've ever heard of, but anyone could have made a movie about this story--anyone. But, only these two actors under the direction of Joe Wright, to whom I also give a standing ovation, could have done it like this. Thank you, The Soloist was a great gift. |
