These professional reviewers are morons.
Evan Rachel Wood does a fantastic job. Uma Thurman does a good job in a tricky role. Tricky because the movie seems a little 'off' during her scenes --- but there is an ultimate reason for this. You think she is just extremely traumatized by a 15-year earlier event -- but in fact there is more going on than you realize.
Rarely does a movie provoke such discussion afterward as this one does. Some might think of the ending as a 'sucker-punch' --- but I view this as being too self-absorbed. A good surprise is rare in modern Hollywood --- and to me it is simply a characteristic of a good movie.
I recommend this one highly. |
