This was the first time since Antwone Fisher that I nearly got choked up. I really haven't heard that much sniffling and seen this much eye-wiping since that movie came out. This was a riveting story. It was put together well. I could have used a little more background on some of the characters, but all in all it still left a tremendous impact on me.
The ensemble of actors was incredible. All of the actresses (and actors) all meshed together; and you truly get wrapped up in the emotions elated in this story. If no one gets an Oscar nod/and or win there is something truly wrong. I'm not a fan of Dakota Fanning, but she did an excellent job in her role. I almost forgot that it was her. Queen, Sophie, Jennifer, and Alicia were great. I loved the different personalities that each of these women brought to the table. They were all unique, but reliant on each other to make each others performance that much better.
The beauty and scenery of the south was captured very well. The story flowed; and I felt like I needed to stick around and watch the next showing. I would highly recommend this film to anyone (men and women alike). This story truly shows what it is to rely on the love of friends and family to overcome the pains that life throws our way. Worth every penny! |
