To begin with, this movie is not for anyone. If you're a movie goer that enjoys horror movies, but not just that, the more modernized, loud and in your face horror movies, you may want to avoid this. The ideal audience for this film is a classic horror movie fan with an open mind to the unknown. Not to say you need to believe in ghosts and demons and the supernatural, but if you're not at least open to the possibility, the scare of the movie will be completely lost on you. That being said, I enjoyed this movie.

I'll grant the pick-up is a bit slow, the male lead was bothersome and I wasn't scared by lifting bedsheets, but there are things in the film that get under your skin. It does its job by not showing you too much, letting you see just enough to leave you bewildered and confused, but not enough to spoil the horror, as so many films do. It brings back the fear of the unknown and doesn't dig too far into the origins of the these occurrences.

But by far, the best part of seeing this movie was seeing it in a the theater. I've never gone into a scary movie and heard so many screams, seen so many people leave and watched so many people hole up in their seats. Leaving the theater, it was nothing but nervous laughter and dried tears. It was also interesting to see how many people began making plans to stay the night with each other as they stuck to the better lit parts of the parking lot.

A good scary movie doesn't scare you to death. It doesn't just make you leap and cringe during the film or shower you in blood and gore. The best thing a horror movie can do is get under your skin and into your head. If you leave a movie glancing over your shoulder, thinking about the possibilities of what could be lurking the shadows and feeling like those moments alone are lasting just a bit longer than you'd like, it did it's job. This movie did do it's job.

But again, it's not for everyone. I can perfectly understand how it bored some people and how it terrified others. I wasn't bored but I wasn't exactly terrified, but most certainly, I was thrilled.

In the end, isn't that the point?
