Disappointed as a Saw fan, but not horrible

Well...I'll just go to say that I was a little disappointed by the outcome of this movie. I went in with fairly high expectations because I really really enjoyed the previous 4, primarily the 2nd and 4th. I thought the second one had a wicked twist and a totally unexpected turn and the 4th one had a minor twist, but it went more into debth of jigsaw himself and how/why he started doing all this. As a fan of the other 4, I didn't entirely dispise this movie, although I thought it could have been alot better. The pattern I'm begging to see as far as my tastes go is that they get better with every other one. So what I'm hoping for is that they make the 6th one really great with a huge surprise ending and a large twist to make up for the bomb that exploded on this one. If that happens, then I think I'll give this one a little more credit. The main reason I'm not being too judgemental about it is because I think that this one is a setup for a big 6th movie. I won't ruin anything, but this movie is primarily focused on the plot of a shady cop and how he is trying to take on jigsaw's legacy and how he became involved in the whole mess. A couple of things that makes me think we are all in store for a very good 6th movie were alot of the little hints throughout the movie. His ex-wife is given a box with "items" in it, which we don't find out about. There seems to be some kind of tie-in with his ex-wife and the events that happen at the end of the movie. So I'd expect his ex to be involved in the 6th one. Another thing that I'm starting to appreciate about this series is that it seems like although the movies are only released every year, and last an hour and a half long, it seems like the main plot of the movie is only actually moving forward about an hour and a half each time if not slower. What I mean by that is, there seems to be alot of ground covered, but there are just so many things happening at once that the plot moves at a steady pace and all of the movies pick right back up where the others left off and actually I beleive one of them actually took place at the same time as a previous movie. So that part in particular is pretty ingenious and creative, which I think these movies all strive well on. The movie itself is becoming an elaborate puzzle and forces the viewers to try to put them all together. Whoever was confused and dumbfounded by this movie is an idiot, because aside from the first one, this one was more straight forward and direct than any of the others. But I also think that the new director also played a big part in why this one bit the dust compared to the others. It doesn't have the same director, and from what I hear, he's not going to be back for the 6th, but not sure if thats just a rumor or what. But I'm thinking that may have had something to do with it. And oh, by the way, hint to everyone out there. IF YOU DIDN'T LIKE THE FIRST 4, DON'T BOTHER WATCHING THE 5TH. YOU ARE A MORON AND IGNORANT IF YOUR GOING TO WATCH THE 5TH ONE JUST SO YOU CAN TRASH IT WHEN YOU NEVER LIKED ANY OF THE PREVIOUS ONES. SO SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY AND HEARTACHE, BECAUSE I GUARANTEE, YOU WON'T ENJOY THIS ONE. |
