Sad movie, but memorable (Spoilers beware)!

This movie was amazing. It's sad and gut wrenching watching Georgiana basically give up her soul and sanity for her children.
The other interesting thing is the sympathy you gain for the characters especially for Bess Foster, mistress to the duke and friend to the duchess. At first you absolutely hate her, but she tries to do the right things for the Duchess. They kinda backfired in the end, but it was worth it.
Of course I hate the duke with a passion. He's absolutely horrible, and the scene where he rapes Georgiana is absolutely gut wrenching.
The costumes are amazing and I think that Keira Knightley should get an Oscar for her performance. She did an amazing job as a woman who gave herself to a marriage that she thought would be successful, but instead was her worst nightmare. This movie deserves at least a couple Oscars. Music was amazing, done by the fabulous Rachel Portman. Watch the movie, because it is an amazing story that makes you truely re-evaluate your life and be grateful for the freedom that both men and women today have. |
