I rarely ever lobby for plays that are made into movies, much less go see them. Speaking as a student and lover of theatre, having seen the play, read the script, performed scenes from the play itself...I can honestly say that if the play had to be made into a movie, there is no better portrayal than this one. One thing I greatly admire is that John Patrick Shanley also adapted the play into the script for the movie...it's rare for playwrights to do that. The acting was superb; this movie will absolutely receive Oscar nominations. I can think of no higher praise than to say that I got the same kind of chills that I would get while watching this play while I was watching this movie. I absolutely encourage all theatre lovers and movie lovers alike to see this movie. |
