*** THIS MOVIE IS NOT A SEQUEL, SO STOP MENTIONING IT ***
First off I am a huge Punisher fan and have always been one. I have a punisher tat on my arm,.. so I definately qualify as a fan.
I will say that I did like the Thomas Jane Punisher,.. but that charachter wasn't what the Punisher was in the books. Ray Stevenson hit Frank Castle on the money in my opinion. The puisher is supposed to kill bad guys,.. and not defeat them mentally with riddles.
On to my review.
This movie was completely badass! I wont see any oscars coming from this movie, nor will you get any life long lessons from watching it,... but if you a fan of the comic, you will be excited to see it finally on the screen as it should have been when any of the movies depicting Frank were ever made. My only complaints were that (as one reviewer mentioned already) he was just able to wander around the streets and subways with a full arsonal attached to him and nobody said a word or freaked.... and second, for his interractions with the police, or heck any of the interractions,.. where the hell were the swarms of cops he usually has to evade?
If you are going to see this,..
DO expect to see blood, and lots of it.
Do expect the no mercy Frank Castle that we have all grown to love in the comics.
Do expect stupid one liners from most of the cast.
Also...
My girlfriend worked as an MA and a phlebotamist (spelling? and that means she drew blood) and she said that she couldnt hang with all the blood in this movie, so don't take your chick if she has a weak tummy.
About my rating,.. I dont feel that the criteria is set to rate a movie like this. I wanted to see bad guys get their asses kicked and some badass gun battles. I wanted to have a smile on my face and actually see the Punisher that I read about on screen,... so even though some of the acting was just blah,.. and the story its a bit choppy,.. I thought it was one hell of a ride. |
