This movie is a masterpiece. The visual effects, music, acting, and direction convert a simple and even far-fetched storyline (perhaps adapted from the book "Q&A")into a wonderful, poignant and truly moving experience that will stay with me forever. The depiction of India, with all its harsh realities, contradictions and complexities, is absolutely masterful. The sights and sounds that characterize the end of the movie in particular, took my breath away.... these images and sounds not only illustrated modern India's obsession with TV, but also captured the modern Indian dream of a "rags to riches" story. At this point, the movie transcends its Indian setting completely and becomes a story for everyone everywhere.... I hope this movie wins an Oscar. It truly deserves it!!!!!! |
