Painful Experience

It has only been less than 2 hours and I'm still reeling from the way I as a fan was pimp-slapped as a reward for years of loyalty to this show. I have never felt so disrespected as a consumer and fan as I have after watching this movie! Sorry, nobody was more hyped than I was for this movie to come out and after I got over the fact that nothing or no one about the finale would be addressed in the movie...I still figured it was going to be well worth it until the next movie and the trailers looked awesome. I didn't realize that the trailer was going to be the best part of the movie. Everything sucked and I got a funny feeling within the first 5 minutes but I sat in my seat next to my sister, convincing myself that it would get better. It didn't. Couldn't there have been a supernatural story or something more palpable than a chop shop "plot", if you want to call it that. Not only that but the acting was stupifyingly bland and lifeless, even Duchovny and Anderson- as if they were punching in a clock to collect a paycheck. And the worst thing was that they looked like they were so over the whole X Files experience. My heart sunk like a two ton brick when that little nugget hit me. The other things that also bugged me was the fact that the setting was in the winter...in snow and yet the main characters or others would walk around with jackets unzipped and no hats or caps. Also, it focused on minor characters or situations and had you thinking somehow it would tie in with the main story...and it really didn't. I'm going to put on my flame resistant suit right now for what I'm going to say next. It was too much soap opera drama with Mulder and Scully and I felt the relationship or whatever little bit we've been shown was shoved down the throat instead of being given choice morsels. I walked out the theatre and if the ticket booth hadn't been closed down, I totally would have demanded a refund. I was deeply disappointed with this tripe and I NEVER thought I would say that about an X-Files movie. Ever. |
