Overall the movie was okay - if you had never seen a single Transformer tv show in your life. This goes in part though with the truly HORRIBLE story/plot. Okay the movie is called Transformers - I assume that it will be about Transformers as well as their characters. instead it became Sam and his giant alien robot friends.
I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's start with the actors - neither of the two leads appeal to me. I don't think that the guy can act at all (or rather he only shows one emotion through the whole movie) and as for the lead female actor- well if she had to do something in the movie other than sit around and be pretty (or run around and be pretty) then we can talk. Now that might be because of the storyline. No one got character development other than Sam, Mikaeyla, and a tiny bit Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream. They added tons of characters, yet none of them got ANY character development. That was frustrating. Why add them if you're doing it just to have someone to blow up?
The visuals would have beeen good - if most of the time we weren't doing the camera work similar to the Blair Witch (shaky and running around, weird angles). It was almost impossible to tell what was going on. Some might consider it "more realistic" but I consider it simply a way to give me a headache.
I didn't like the story because basically I feel the story is surrounding the human and not the actual transformers. Also it seems to follow more his life than anything else. If I wanted to see that I would watch a college drama. |
