Neat visuals; interesting but short

This newer type of 3-D is SO much easier to watch than the old red-and-blue-glasses kind! The 3-D effects in this movie, combined with the effects of the big screen, really gave me a feeling for the size and sheer massiveness of these prehistoric creatures. It also gave the film a rather immersive feel, with schools of fish swarming all around, and the initial sweeping vistas looking quite real and lovely. If you like this sort of Discovery channel show, you'll like this one.
A few minuses: it is pretty short for the price of a movie, just 40 minutes long. (An hour show, if you add commercials.) Also, for very small children, all the long jaws full of teeth coming right towards you might be frightening. However, despite the fact that several creatures were eaten, it was never done in a graphic manner, so I would imagine older children might enjoy all the dinosaur action. |
