Right off the bat, Dustin Hoffman is too old for Emma Thompson to make their relationship believable. The contrived bad manners of Hoffman's family members make the story feel like fingers traveling down a charkboard. The story lacks some sort of connecting background to know why things are the way they are with his daughter and ex-wife. The only thing I found even remotely enjoyable in the movie was the background scenry. The rest was just a stressed out, bad-mannered fairy tale. |
