I am a huge fan of the series and I have been anxiously waiting for the film since I heard it was coming out. But I have to say the film was dissapointing. Here's some reasons why, from one fan to another.
Story: The story line for each character had great potiental, but not enough detail was shown to really connect with the characters journey, the story tries to take on too much and is just shallowly covered. They should have just made a 7th season and developed all it further because It didn't do the series justice. Also, the men of the girls are hardly shown which is dissapointing because they played a needed part in the show to help the girls develop. Also, they never explain what went on with Standford and his man or why his sudden connection to Anthony.
Acting: The girls did show some depth as actresses particularly parker and nixon ( when Miranda goes through tough times with Steve). But the story is too generalized its hard for them to really delve as far as they could have gone had the story been better developed. My only beef is that these 40 and 50 year old women were still acting like they were 25 emotionally, so it was kinda of offputting becuase they should have grown up by now. They got dramatic in the wedding scene but was almost over acting verging on jerry springerish.
Directing: Bad. Just way bad. The scenes didn't flow well and it was kinda of just randomly put together or it seemed like it.
Visuals: of course were good. New York is just a beauty.
Overall: It was just very disapointing because the series ended on a such a good place. They didn't show the depth of the characters as they have in the show and it made them come off as immature and shallow. It lacked the pop of the series and I doubt they will make a sequel because there is nothing left to say. |
