W. Herzog: "I fell in love with the world."
by Christopher (movies profile)
Dec 1, 2008
I too cannot believe individuals are complaining about this film. This is a existential masterpiece. It looks at man's endeavors in light of a universe that comes alive, into existence, through man's interaction with it, through his/her dreams, visions or scientific endeavors.
Despite the unavoidable undercurrent of tradedy, and I defy anyone who has lived to deny the inevitability of death and loss individually and/or collectively, Herzog leaves open the "spiritual" nature and value of our current efforts for us here and now. This of course is the fundamental nature and exhortation of exisitential philosophers from the Christian Kierkegaard to the atheistic Sartre.
Herzog encapsulates this philosophy in his interview statement about his work "I fell in love with the world." |
