There is something I hate about trailers; no matter how good they are, or how funny, the movie can suck badly. That is my case with the love guru.

Just an ordinary Friday going to the movies with my friend, you know? Already knowing the Love Guru was criticized terribly by almost every newspaper around the country. This almost always happens with most comedies, and yet they end up giving me one heck of a time (I´m looking at you "Good Luck Chuck" and "Mr Zohan".) Not saying they're good.
We ended up deciding to go watch the Love Guru, then we would go into Get Smart...

And… what can I say?? As the movie proceeded by, every minute it seemed like it would last forever, I hardly found anything of it funny, almost none of the jokes were funny. Once I was chatting with a friend of mine during French class about bad movies, I remember he would used the word "scripted" to describe the dialogue of a movie. I had no idea what he meant. He said to me " Dialogue you can easily notice is not well edited, that you can tell there's something cheesy about it…like in a barney episode or something..". I found the guru's screenplay scripted. It's wildly unfunny, it is a bunch of bad jokes put together in a bad book about Indian gurus.

There is something comedians such as Judd Apatow, Adam Sandler, and Kevin Smith know how to work on their characters, originality, style, way, that even in the most awkward moments they would work. What happened with Dewey Cox? The Zohan? or How about Jay and Silent Bob? And as much as I dislike Jay for his pervertion, at times I can't help but laugh. The Love Guru did not work, and me and my friend went right out to watch "Get Smart" after it was over.

For the first time in my entire experience with terrible comedy films I have never seen a movie with such a tasteless, and tedious way of working.
The acting is very bad. Ms Alba playing the unhappy girl waiting for someone to love her (look at it like the first fantastic four). Myers with his irritating fake accent and his weird expressions. And Justin Timberlake....well...he is probably the funniest dude in this one. From the few laughs I had in this movie he made 75% of 'em. Still, go back to the drug dealer(Alpha Dog), or the military boyfriend dude (Black Snake Moan), this is not his type at all.

In a last ditch of effort the Jokes just kept getting raunchier; Elsewhere, sports commentator Jay Kell draws a picture of a penis on a telestrator. Darren dates bikini-clad supermodels. Pitka is shown with eyes painted on his nipples. We also see a supposed paparazzi shot of Pitka exposing himself, critical parts blocked out by a black box. Countless sexually-themed jokes fall fast and furious throughout the film. Oh, and we haven't even talked about elephants having sex on the hockey ice during an extended time out ("complimented" by the announcer's graphic play-by-play description of one elephant mounting another).

The Love Guru is just another effort ending up horribly. Skip this one for your own sake, time, and money. And as funny as the trailers, or the posters, and promotions look it sucks, and it is good at that.
