At times reminiscent of The Sixth Sense, sometimes like Amityville Horror, with perhaps a dash of The Exorcist, The Haunting In Connecticut is filled with suspense, scares, creep-outs and even a little tugging at the heartstrings. The cast is good and well-cast - lead actress Virginia Madsen has a history of choosing good roles, several of which have been creepy ghost stories. The morbid back-story of the haunted house definitely adds to the chills, and the unfolding of the plot consistently cranks up the tension and fear-factor. All I can say, is that I thought I was beyond jumping out of my skin in a ghost movie, but this one had a "gotcha" moment that took the whole audience a good minute or two to recover from. I went to the premier midnight screening, and I'll recommend that a late-night showing of "Haunting" is the way to go.
