I'm a guy and enjoyed the movie (will note that I am somewhat religous). The movie has some big name comedians, but is not a funny movie. There were points where I disliked Henry Poole, but came to sympathesize, possibly empathize, with him as the movie progressed. Therefore, says something to the direction and writing of the movie.
There were some interesting parallels with the Bible (curing the mute, blind, Job), but not heavy handed and could be missed by most. Lopez pulls off the priest role.
Overall, the movie left me feeling good which is a much better feeling to the one I had leaving the Dark Knight. |
