A great disappointment

I was looking forward to seeing Bruno - the trailer and online clips kept me rolling on the floor laughing. I still laugh watching Borat, so I was eager to get in and see Bruno as soon as it hit the theaters.
Bruno is not like Borat - this time they try to have a stronger story line and focus far too much on it. The story line is extremely poor and uninteresting, causing the entire movie watching experience to jump off the tracks in a horrific failure of comedy. Bruno does have several funny moments that will have you laughing out loud, but those are kept short and surrounded by moments of discomfort and extremely sexually explicit scenes are delivered to total silence and shock in the theater.
When the movie finally ended, and it felt long due to the abundance of awkward moments and discomforting scenes, I walked away feeling disappointed. I also question how this movie got only an R rating - seeing a male "package" swinging wildly 12 feet high for what seemed like an eternity and the opening sex scene where enough in my opinion to move this beyond an R rating.
Save your money - laugh with the previews and trailers available online - they contain almost every laugh and some that didn't make it to the big screen. I wish I could be more positive, but Bruno disappoints more then anything else. |
