Alright homage to film noir set in a high school
by nighthawk (movies profile)
Nov 7, 2009
Assassination of a High School President shares similar character traits with the movie Brick. Both pay homage to film noir films of the past and are set in a high school. Whereas Brick plays its premise moody and stylish Assassination of a High School president goes for quirky and comical. The movie is very hit or miss. Some of it works and some of it doesn't. Bruce Willis has a small supporting role in the movie as the high school principal. Assassination of a high school president is sort of a cross between Chinatown, The Usual Suspects and Rushmore among others. It is not close to being as good as any of those films although its not that bad either. Its a mixed bag. Attempting to spot all of the film noir and movie references sprinkled throughout the film is admittedly kind of fun though. |
