My husband and I and our two daughters 9 and 6 just got home after seeing Monsters v. Aliens. We were unable to see it in 3D and I was a little nervous because I had read reviews that said that the movie was basically eye candy and had nothing else going for it. Wrong. We found lots of humor in it. A few gross elements. Considering it's put out by the same company that made the Shrek movies, Shark Tale, and Madagascar, I was already cringing expecting crude and inappropriate content for my daughters. Sure, there were some elements that the adults would get, but they happened so fast and in such a vague way, that they barely made it onto my radar. A lot of the humor was so unexpected. The things that you think in other movies, "Oh gosh, if they would have done this, it would have been hilarious" they really did in this movie.
1. This movie is not too scary for a 6yo. I remember people complaining that The Grinch was too scary for kids and after my very young children watched it and laughed, I figured, "Oh yeah, whiners."
2. This movie not only made for boys. My daughters and I all LOVED it.
3. There are definitely characters that can be "favorites". Mine is a tie between BOB and Missing Link.
4. Absolutely family friendly.
If you haven't seen it yet, go. The best movie experience is one that is not over-analyzed. |
