Blindness is a sensitive, well-balanced adaptation from one of the greatest novels ever written. Meirelles conveys perfectly the horror and the the nasty side of human beings in face of great threat and danger. I don't really see the point of so many heated up debating about the blindness thing - which is purely metaphorical. Even if it weren't, I can't see any "bad depiction" of blind people. Also, I have hard a lot of biased comments about violence ( which is pretty ridiculous if you think Hollywood pulled out things like "Saw" ) and rape. The rape scene is not at all as half as shocking as the public my have indicated.
In the whole, it is a tough movie to watch, very crude and very loyal to the book. An intense and gripping parable that makes you think about life in a different perspective. |
