I liked the idea going in. Was hoping for some cutting commentary on the pandering of candidates to the masses and some inside politics stuff. And they tried to do just that, but missed the mark. Poor direction and mostly weak writing. The dialogue and mannerisms from Costner were repetitive. I actually was pleasantly surprised by Kelsey Grammer. And newcomer Madeline Carroll was terrific, although I couldn't get the Juno actress out of my mind the entire movie. Just can't recommend this one although going in I thought I was going to have at least a few scenes that I would send someone to see. Nope. (Oh yeah, I almost forgot It does have some good Marshall Tucker Band music throughout, but just buy the MTB greatest hits and you'll be happier than sitting through the movie) |
