I watched this movie even after reading the bad reviews. I felt the reviews were so biased that they only hated it because of Tom Cruise and how it lacked visual action. I am guessing those people aren't World War 2 buffs that didn't come expecting a huge visual spectacle. Here is a small history lesson for you people. Explosives back then were small. The fact it blew up most of the hut was amazing in itself. Apparently you expected Tom Cruise to dive from a huge explosion that takes out the whole base. Before you think that, pick up a book.
To those who hated it due to Tom Cruise being casted as the main character, you again are being childish. You may hate his out of movie actions, but his acting is great. I don't disagree that he is one of the dumbest men to walk the earth, but he is amazing when he is in a movie. To hate a movie just because of the cast is kinda stupid when they all can act.
To sum it all up, Valkyrie was an excellent movie. It kept me on the edge of my seat even though I knew the outcome. I knew how everything would end, but it still kept me excited. I actually caught myself thinking he would succeed and secure Berlin. Any movie that could make an intelligent man believe history was wrong is a great movie. If you are a history buff this is a must-see. If you haven't picked up a history book, then don't go see it unless you understand this is a historical movie with very little special effects. This is a movie about how they almost got Hitler out of power by killing him. |
