This is not karate kid 4. Not even close to. Though the movie has heart, martial arts, and a "sensei", it's not the same. And I'm not gonna compare them both.
The truth is, I enjoyed this film very much, and I cannot believe critics rating this movie that bad.
Either way, I have to admit the film was quite good and very entretaining.
We've had it after 3 karate kids, rocky balboa, and all those kinds of wrestling, boxing, karate, etc movies. Kick box is something new in here! And thank god for the creators that made it as intense and graphic as possible for a PG-13.
Yes, the film's got pretty intense fighting, and many people end up with something broke.
Along with the action, someone finally ends up with another original story without having to do with past same-genre movies.
And the acting wasn't bad as I thuhgt it would be, I've had experiences with this kind of movies having teens as the main characters (we're looking at you "the seeker the dark is rising").
And wait, what's Djmon Honsou doing in a movie like these one? After his oscar nomination in "Blood Diamond" I think he should be in more descent ones probably, or the money was too good to refuse. Either way, he spices things up a lot as the combat trainer. He created one that's like no other. Honsou is a very good actor.
The direction? Egh, I'm gonna say it was quite good, from the football game up to the end.
There where no visuals I remember of, yet, the fight scenes where pretty good and the slow motion punches and kicks. Like if they where masters of creating a reallistic yet strong fighting sequence.
Overall, "Never back down" is good! There's a time when the critics are right and one whether they're just giving movies tough ratings. |
