Cinematography is awesome. Plot is thin. Story line disappointing. It's a movie where everybody loses. Artist meets the dysfunctional gay son of a wealthy Catholic family at Oxford, and artist soon becomes bonded to the son and his family. Eventually artist dumps gay friend for the gay guy's sister, and gay guy witnesses artist kissing sister which leaves him traumatized. Sister loves artist but cannot marry him because he's an atheist. Gay friend becomes an alcoholic and winds up in a sanitorium, sister marries a gold digging Catholic convert who she eventually leaves to devote herself to prayer, confession and kneeling before statues of Mary. Artist marries some blond while still pining away for his first love (the gay guy's sister). Oh - it was a draining movie. |
