I highly recommend this film and its images will stay with me for a long time. It combines deep insights into human nature with beautiful acting and photography. The film follows the intersecting lives of several unrelated people who are all in search of meaningful relationships and love. The main character, Batya, is beautifully portrayed by Sarah Adler without being overly emotional. Despite what seems to be a lack of plot development, I was never bored. (There is even a subtle jibe at the issue of plot development during the film itself.) The film manages to pack in multiple complicated scenarios (mother-daughter conflicts, employer-employee relations, the problems of fitting into a foreign culture, marriage, divorce, aging, issues related to the holocaust, death) in a series of vignettes that are seemingly unrelated yet deeply connected underneath by issues of lack of communication. Bravo.
