Mister Lonely SUCKS!

I read about this movie online and to my surprise I saw that it was available through On Demand IFC and I decided to check it out.
WOW! This movie really sucked, it was really horrible. If I wasn't watching it from the comfort of my own home then I probably would have left the theater.
The two main characters meet at an old folks home but it's never explained what Marilyn Monroe was doing there and that was my first hint that this movie had a weak storyline.
Secondly, Diego impersonation of MJ was really more of him imitating his sounds and gestures when he danced and talking with a soft voice. I've seen better impersonations on the corner in San Francisco so watching an entire movie with him was a tough pill to swallow.
Also, the description says a young "American" as a Michael Jackson impersonator is a gross misinterpretation. Diego had a very odd accent mixed with his own Spanish accent, a french accent with a sprinkle of Michael Jackson. None of these accents really came through as an American...weird much.
So, basically it boils down to him dressing like MJ in the 90's, having extremely looooooooooooooooooong sequences of him dancing and very odd interactions with the other characters who are also impersonating celebrities.
Oh, lets not forget the young boy who impersonates Buckwheat and has a scene where it talks slightly sexually to a horse in the forest>
I enjoy a good independent/artsy film as much as the next person but this was just horrible. At then end of the day, I'm an old fashion gal who enjoys movies with a plot...go figure. |
