Crafted in the tradition of "cinema as reality" from the 1940's and 1950's this is Italian moviemaking at its best, which is to say moviemaking at its best.
To begin with the casting is excellent, something far too many movies can not say for themselves. The hero is dynamically written and dynamically portrayed. The film is shot with the proper blend of intimacy and expression without seeming forced or "too damn artsy."
A wonderful film. Go see it. |
