Pro Soldier & Non Political!

Whereas many movies that have used the Iraq War as a backdrop have done so from a very politicized point of view, usually leaning to the left, meaning anti-war anti-victory, this movie left that out save for a few brief moments that for the most part weren't there point of view of the soldiers who are the focus of the film.
Having had family who have come back from OCONUS deployment watching it with me, they gave credence to the portrayal of the three main characters of the movie. Each one had very different origins that could have been looked into more, but gave a different perspective of the events that were unfolding before them. One of the most truest scenes that the movie had to real life, was when the soldiers were riding in a Hummer H2 and they were being thanked for their service. Each soldier not seeing it as anything special as they have all served, awkwardly acknowledged the thank you, with a slightly uncomfortable amount of silence.
For those who have family who have served or are serving I would highly recommend it. However, because there is such a demographic disconnect now a days between those who have a connect to our armed forces, and those who don't, the chances of this movie having a real impact is unlikely. |
