Big Josh Hartnett fan, but this was somewhat disappointing. The premise of the story is fairly interesting- but too many details are left to figure out (Like what the hell their company Landshark actually does), the use of internet and business jargon is overwhelming to the point of lost interest and the dynamics between the actors is a bit bland- The best part would have to be the impromptu sex scene- brief, but powerful and well done. The soundtrack is fantastic as well. I think Josh's character of Tom has a lot of potential to expand his role in the film, but there was so much going on at once and so much flip-flopping between emotion and business- ends are left loose. Perhaps that was the intention of the film, but his comment "That's so third quarter of 1999" early in the film is a bit surprising. The tidbits of pre 9/11 news are poignant, but a bit overdone (especially the ending aaliyah news report) and the connection to 9/11 is not as strong as the previews made it out to seem. I feel cheated out of $12. Wish I waited for the DVD- |
