A unique psychological movie

In a movie about an illegal abortion one has expectations at each turn in the story. The beauty of this film is that it does not dwell on any of the expected elements--the authorities, punishments, health damage, orphanages. Instead, it focuses on the psychological wounds inflicted on the people who get close to the women losing unborn children. Otilia's personal drama, subtly nuanced by her understated acting, is as great--if not greater--as that of her roommate. |
