i have been a huge fan of the saw franchise since the first one was released...i loved the first one, the second one was pretty good, but i was disappointed with the third entry...however i still believed that they would make up for that with this movie...and they did...
the main problem i had with the third movie is that there really was no plot to go from and all they were trying to do was go all-out with the gore...it just didnt feel like a true "saw" movie...one that incorporates the gore with a strong plot...this movie is able to do that...
without giving away any spoilers, this movie had a solid story (and even a story within a story) and was able to really keep me on the edge of my seat the entire time wondering exactly what was going to happen...the acting (to me) just seemed so much better in this movie which definitely helped out alot...
the ending is probably what people are not necessarily going to like the most about this movie...its hard to really deliver a huge twist anymore because after the first movie, we are exactly what is in reality, the impossible...i actually was able to guess one of the "twists" due to things i picked up along the way but that didnt make me think of the movie any less...
what i really liked about this movie is that it is complex, you really have to be paying attention and be able to pick up and follow what is going on...if you miss something, you are going to be lost...
of course this movie is gruesome in parts but it is not overdone...
overall i really liked this movie and am glad that they were able to redeem themselves from the third one...it is definitely a worthy sequel and it is really interesting to look at how this franchise had developed from the first movie...a film that was involves two guys locked in a room with a budget of $1 million... |
